On March 11 and 12, the Chinese Cultural Courier @ the Philippines kicked off with a vibrant spectacle of Lingnan style, making a splash both at the CKS College and in the city of Baguio.
The Chinese troupe from Foshan, Guangdong Province took center stage, and afforded Filipinos from various backgrounds, particularly the young generation, the opportunity of engaging with China’s regional tapestry of traditional culture.
Alongside photo gallery and presentation of intangible heritages, shining on the stage were a selection of repertoires representing Lingnan culture, from Southern Lion Dance, Cantonese Opera, Southern Chinese Kung Fu—Wing Chun to acrobatic ballet and Gaohu solo, etc.
This fest, co-sponsored by Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, Federation of Filipino-Chinese Association of the Philippines and Foshan Municipal Government of China, was intended for fostering mutual understanding and people-to-people exchanges between China and the Philippines, as part of shared efforts to mark the jubilee year for the two countries’ diplomatic relations.
